Meet Our Preschool Team
Betty Blazek earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia College. She began teaching Preschool at Saint Benedict's Prep in 1990 and for the fourth year being co-director of the Elementary After Care program. She looks forward for another great year of growing socially, emotional, spiritually with lots of laughter and learning.
Kelly Christy graduated from University of Detroit Mercy located in Michigan with a degree in Education. She enjoyed her four years there playing tennis on a scholarship. She completed her master’s degree in reading at Oakland University in 2015. Ms. Davis enjoys coloring, exercising and listening to music. She loves the color yellow and will never turn down a cupcake. Ms Davis is planning on getting married next April in 2017 on April Fool’s Day!
Molly Elliott earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at DePaul University in 2010. This will be her seventh year teaching preschool at St. Benedict Prep. In addition to teaching preschool, this will be Ms. Elliott’s fourth year co-directing the Elementary After Care program. She is excited to start a new school year that is sure to be filled with learning, faith, and fun.
Jessice Granitz is excited to start her 2nd year at St. Ben's! This is going to be her 6th year teaching preschool. She is originally from Wisconsin, but has been living in Chicago for almost three years. Ms. Granitz graduated from UW-Madison in 2011 with a degree in Child Development and then attended UW-Milwaukee to get her Early Childhood Teaching License. Ms. Granitz had a wonderful first year at St. Ben’s and is looking forward to a brand new year of learning and exploring with her students!
Kristen Hayes was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago. She attended Catholic Schools from preschool through high school. Kristen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started at St. Ben's as an assistant in the Junior Kindergarten program and also was one of the aftercare teachers for preschool. This will be her fourth year as lead teacher and second year working with the Junior Kindergarten program. When she is not teaching, she loves to spend time outdoors with her dog Bella and also spending time with her family, especially at their house right outside New Buffalo, Michigan. She is looking forward to a great year learning and exploring new things with her students.
Cathy Kattner has always lived here in Chicago. She is married with 2 children, both having attended St. Benedict Prep preschool through high school. She graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She loves teaching and is happy to be part of the preschool team.
Malgorzata Pikulski grew up in Poland and moved to Chicago shortly after graduating from the University of Rzeszow. Mrs. Pikulski obtained a Master Degree of Science in Education (Early Childhood) from Dominican University. For the past 20 years, she has been teaching preschool children within the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools. This year is her fourth year at SBPS. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, bike riding, and reading. Mrs. Pikulski is looking forward to having a great year!
Meet Our Kindergarten Team
Marnie O'Daniell Marnie O'Daniel graduated from Indiana University in 2016 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She started out as a first grade assistant at Alphonsus Academy and this will be Marnie's second year at St. Ben's, as a kindergarten teacher. Marnie is so excited for this year at SBPS. When she isn't teaching she loves spending time with her family and friends, cooking and traveling.
Erin Kelley Erin Kelley graduated from John Carroll University in 2011 and completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on English as a Second Language in 2013 from Lewis University. This year will be her eighth year working at St. Benedict Prep. She is looking forward to helping shape her new students into well rounded members of our school community ,and showing them how learning can be fun!
Kaylee Tarris completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Eastern Illinois University in 2011. This will be her seventh year at St. Benedict Prep and fifth year teaching kindergarten. She also coaches our littles cheerleading program and loves spending time with her two dogs. Ms. Tarris looks forward to another great and exciting school year!
